Atlantic Needlefish

These voracious little predators are abundant in coastal waters of the eastern United States and are found all the way south to Brazil.  They are capable of rapid bursts of speed and seize smaller fish with the needle-sharp teeth that fill their elongated jaws.  These are prints of a single fish caught in the salt marshes next to Hunting Island, South Carolina.
